ATAC sent 46 swimmers to the 2008 Paradise Invitational, October 17 – 19, 2008, in Panama City, FL. ATAC placed 5th in the meet (11 team total).

John Yambor-Maul was high point runner up and Christian Bosque was 5th place high point winner for 8 and under boys. Cattie Li was 7th place high point and Stephanie Holmes was 8th place high point for 8 and under girls. Jackson Brown was 4th place high point for 9 – 10 boys and Makayla Ayers was 4th place high point for 11 – 12 girls.

A total of 13 Junior Olympic qualifying times were set by ATAC swimmers at the meet. Nice job, ATAC!


War Eagle Invitational

ATAC sent 22 swimmers to the 2008 Auburn War Eagle Invitational, October 17 – 19, 2008, in Auburn, Alabama. No team scores were kept in the meet.

Cece Williams was high point winner for 11 – 12 girls and set new ATAC team records in the 200 yard freestyle (1:59.71), 100 yard individual medley (1:04.09), and the 200 yard individual medley (2:16.25).

Other top 16 high point winners included Brandon Chason, 4th place for 10 and under boys; Joey Briggs, 3rd place and Brett Martin, 13th place for 11 and 12 boys; and Sydney Simpson 13th place for 11 and 12 girls.

A total of 72 Junior Olympic and 46 Senior Championship qualifying times were set by ATAC swimmers at the meet. Great meet, ATAC!


Elizabeth Kazeck Fall Invitational

October 4-5, 2008

ATAC sent 33 swimmers to the 2008 Elizabeth Kazeck Fall Invitational, October 4 – 5, 2008, in Orlando Florida. John Yambor-Maul was individual high point winner for 8 and under boys. Cece Williams and Alyssa Yambor-Maul were high point runners up for 11 – 12 girls and 13 – 14 girls, respectively.

New ATAC team records were set by Cece Williams in the girls 11 – 12 400 yard individual medley (4:49.79) and Stephanie Holmes in the girls 8 and under 100 yard breaststroke (1:35.62).

A total of 66 Junior Olympic and 32 Senior Championship qualifying times were set by ATAC swimmers at the meet.

Tom Kingston Invitational

ATAC competed in the Tom Kingston Invitational September 12 – 14 in Daytona Beach, Florida, and placed first overall as a team with 4091.50 points.

Individual high point winners included John Yambor-Maul, 8 and under boys; Joey Briggs, 11 – 12 boys; Cece Williams, 11 – 12 girls; Scott Fortier, 13 – 14 boys; Lia Lombardi, 13 – 14 girls; and Hunter Hinson, Senior boys.

High point runners-up included Stephanie Holmes, 8 and under girls; Brandon Chason, 10 and under boys; Brett Martin, 11 – 12 boys; and Sergey Rogachev, 13 – 14 boys.

Third place high point winners included Lydia Scharff, 8 and under girls; Alyssa Yambor-Maul, 13 – 14 girls; and Spencer Rausch, Senior boys.

A new ATAC team record was set by John Yambor Maul in the boys 8 and under 50 yard butterfly (36.52), breaking the old record of the late Mac Crutchfield. A total of 181 Junior Olympic and 68 Senior Championship qualifying times were set by ATAC swimmers at the meet. We missed you, Mac!


Area I&IV Championship

August 2-3, 2008

ATAC sent 140 swimmers to the Area 1 and 4 Championships August 2 – 3 at the Trousdell Aquatic Center in Tallahassee. ATAC placed 1st overall as a team in the meet (8,138 points). High point winners included Wyatt Foote, 8 and under boys; Stephanie Holmes, 8 and under girls; Jackson Brown, 9-10 boys; Makayla Ayers, 11-12 girls; and Colin Abbey, 13-14 boys.

High point runners-up included John Yambor-Maul, 8 and under boys; Christopher Holmes, 11-12 boys; Stephen Ziegler, 13-14 boys; and Auriel Rolle-Polk, 15-18 girls.

A new ATAC team record was set by John Yambor-Maul in the boys 8 and under 50 yard butterfly (36.80).

2008 Southern Zone Age Group Championship

August 1-5, 2008

POOL MEET RESULTS | OPEN WATER RESULTS

Hunter Hinson and Cece Williams represented Florida Swimming at the USA Swimming Southern Zone Age Group Swimming Championships, July 29 – August 3 at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center in Atlanta, GA. The Florida team placed first in the overall team competition. The Southern Zone is one of four swimming zones in the U.S. and includes swimmers, ages 11 to 18, from Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

Hunter, 15-18 boys, placed 2nd in the 200 meter butterfly in 2:04.92, breaking the Southern Zone record. Hunter also placed 2nd in the 100 meter butterfly in 56.77. Both of these times qualify him for Short Course Senior Nationals in December.

Cece Wlliams, 11-12 girls, placed 7th in 400 meter freestyle in 4:44.70. She was also 2nd place female and 3rd overall (boys and girls combined; 83 swimmers total) in the 3,000 meter open water swim.

ATAC Seniors Make a Statement at Florida Senior Swimming Championships

July 24-27, 2008

FULL MEET RESULTS

ATAC brought 16 swimmers to the Florida Senior State Swimming Championships held in Fort Myers. ATAC came away with State Champions in three events. James Bowen won both the 100 meter Breaststroke (1:09.31) and 200 meter Breaststroke (2:33.63) in the 15 & 16 age group and Malcolm Hosford won the 100 meter Breaststroke in the Senior Division with an OLYMPIC TRIAL QUALIFYING time of 1:04.55. Hosford also achieved 2 Short Course Senior National qualifying times in the 200 Breaststroke with a 2:24.89 and in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:10.39.


2008 Florida Long Course Junior Olympics

July 17-20, 2008

ATAC sent 34 swimmers to the Florida Swimming Junior Olympic Championships July 17 – 20, 2008 at the O’Connell Center at the University of Florida in Gainesville. ATAC finished 7th overall. Over 800 swimmers representing 49 teams competed at the meet.

JO medal winners (top 3 finishers) included Cece Williams (2nd in the 11 – 12 girls 100 meter freestyle, 3rd in the 50 meter freestyle); Alexandria Merritt (3rd in the 13 – 14 girls 100 meter freestyle); and Joey Briggs (3rd in the 11 – 12 boys 50 meter freestyle). The girls 13 – 14 200 meter medley relay team of Alexandria Merritt, Lia Lombardi, Megan Walker, and Kristen Sweeney placed 2nd.

New ATAC team records were set by Cece Williams in the 11 – 12 girls 200 meter freestyle (2:15.24); 400 meter freestyle (4:44.27), and 200 meter individual medley (2:36.56); Alexandria Merritt in the 13 – 14 girls 100 meter backstroke (1:10.13); and Brandon Chason in the 10 and under boys 100 meter butterfly (1:20.19). ATAC achieved a total of 88 “AAA” or better times in the meet.

Thomasville Riptide Invitational

FULL MEET RESULTS

ATAC took 60 swimmers to the Thomasville Riptide Invitational Swim Meet and not only took home the overall Team Championship trophy, but also garnered 14 individual High Point awards including a sweep of the awards in the 8 and under and 11 & 12 boys divisions.

325 swimmers from throughout Georgia representing 11 teams participated. ATAC scored 1,046.5 points to runner-up Tiftarea YMCA Tidal Waves with 583 points.

Many of ATAC’s up and coming swimmers made up this squad and showed a great deal of team spirit and excitement, both in and out of the water.

2008 ATAC Long Course Open

ATAC had 133 swimmers participate in the ATAC Long Course Open, June 27-29 at the Trousdell Aquatic Center. ATAC placed first overall as a team (out of 20 teams).

High point winners included Cece Williams, 11-12 girls; Allison Cottle, senior girls; Brandon Chason, 10 and under boys; Joey Briggs, 11-12 boys; Scott Fortier, 13-14 boys; Hunter Hinson, 15-16 boys; and Shawn Erickson, senior boys. High point runners up included Alexandria Merritt, 13-14 girls; CJ Hendry, senior girls; and John Yambor-Maul, 8 and under boys.

New ATAC team records were set by Cece Williams in the 11 – 12 girls 400 meter freestyle (4:47.49) and John Yambor-Maul in the 8 and under 50 meter butterfly (44.50) and 100 meter butterfly (1:50.56). ATAC swimmers achieved a total of 205 Junior Olympic and 313 Senior Championship meet cuts.

ATAC sent 62 swimmers to the 2008 Tom Lalor Invitational, June 13 - 15, 2008 in Pensacola, FL. ATAC placed first overall as a team (out of 17 teams). High point winners included Brandon Chason, 10 and under boys; Hunter Hinson, 15 – 16 boys; and Alexandria Merritt, 13 – 14 girls.

New ATAC team records were set by Cece Williams in the 11 – 12 girls 200 meter freestyle (2:17.37) and 200 meter individual medley (2:36.71); Lia Lombardi in the 11 – 12 girls 200 meter breaststroke (2:53.32) and 400 meter individual medley (5:34.21); John Yambor-Maul in the boys 8 and under 50 meter butterfly (45.28); and Brandon Chason in the boys 10 and under 100 meter butterfly (1:22.28). Brandon broke one of the oldest ATAC records in the books – the 1974 record of Danny Hicks, a former ATAC swim parent who was coached “way, way back in the day” by our very own Gerry Norris! Jon broke a record almost as old – the 1977 mark of Bart Hollander.

ATAC swimmers achieved a total of 113 Junior Olympic and 146 Senior Championship meet cuts. Great showing, ATAC!


Thomasville Riptide Makes a Splash in Bainbridge Meet

The Thomasville YMCA Riptide/ATAC swim team competed Saturday, June 7, 2008 in the 45th Annual Inland Port Invitational Swim Meet in Bainbridge, GA. 13 competitors from the Riptide squad attended this meet. A total of 8 teams from Valdosta, Tifton, Moultrie, Bainbridge, Cairo and Thomasville, Georgia and Marianna and Live Oak, Florida with 170 swimmers gathered at the Bainbridge Community Center Pool to compete in 116 exciting individual and team relay events. The meet was hosted by the Bainbridge Extreme Swim Team, sanctioned by US Swimming and included lots of challenging longer events.

The Riptide team led by Coach Helen Barnes placed an impressive 4th place in overall points with only 13 swimmers attending. Five athletes from Riptide/ATAC won high point honors in their age group. Thomasville swept the 7-8 year old girls division with Maggie Davis placing first overall, Lydia Scharff placing second and Aubrey Baker placing third. Kelly Henderson and Sara Claire Fennell swept the 9-10 year old girls age group with first and second place showings, respectively. Mary Katherine Moreton took second place honors in the 11-12 year old division. Whit Fennell also had great swims, winning first place in three events in the 6 and under boys division.

The Riptide team also had fantastic performances in the relay events. The 7-8 Girls relay team won first place in both the 100 Yard Freestyle and the 100 Yard Medley relays. This team was made up of Dana Henderson (7), Aubrey Baker (8), Maggie Davis (8), and Lydia Scharff (8). The 11-12 Girls Relay team also placed first in both of their relay events. This team was composed of Catherine Fennell (9), and Sara Claire Fennell (9) Kelly Henderson (10), and Mary Katherine Moreton (12). The Boys 9-10 Relay team also placed first in the 100 Yard Freestyle Relay. The young men who participated were Whit Fennell (6), Ben Thomas (7), Chad Thomas (9) and Jud Scharff (9).

Valdosta YMCA Piranha Swim Team, who brought 17 swimmers placed third in overall team competition, with Second going to the Marianna Marlins Swim Team from Marianna, FL with 36 swimmers, and First Place honors were earned by the Tiftarea YMCA Tidal Wave team with 55 swimmers.

The team plans to attend at least 5 more swim meets during the summer months. Swimmers who qualify can also compete at the Georgia District and State Level. The club is sponsored by the Thomasville YMCA and coaching and organization is provided by the Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club (ATAC). There is still time to get involved in this exciting, healthy and mostly very fun sport. The next meet that Riptide/ATAC will attend is the Valdosta YMCA Piranha swim meet, Saturday June 14th, with another event in Moultrie, GA on the 21st. Tiftarea YMCA Tidal Wave Swim Meet

FULL MEET RESULTS (non-sanctioned meet)

The Thomasville YMCA Riptide/ATAC swim team competed Saturday, May 10, 2008 in the Tiftarea YMCA Tidal Wave Swim Meet. 16 competitors from the Riptide squad attended this meet, the first swim meet of the summer season. A total of 6 teams from Fitzgerald, Valdosta, Tifton, Moultrie and Thomasville with over 125 swimmers gathered at the Tiftarea YMCA Aquatic Center to compete in 90 exciting individual and team relay events. Events range from ages 6 and under to the 15-18 year old category and include freestyle, backstroke, breast stoke and butterfly. The 16 swimmers from Riptide gave an impressive team effort to take home Third Place overall, with Second going to Stone Creek Club from Valdosta with 29 swimmers, and First Place honors earned by the home Tiftarea YMCA Tidal Wave team with 66 swimmers.

Three swimmers from Riptide/ATAC won top honors overall in their age group. Kelly Henderson captured first in the 9-10 girls, winning first place in 5 individual events. Maggie Davis came in first overall in the 7-8 girls, taking first place in 3 individual events and second in 2 other events. Whit Fennell placed first overall in the 6 and under boys category with 4 individual first place wins. Mary Catherine Moreton placed second overall in the 11-12 Girls age group and Amber Stewart took second in the 13-14 year old girls.

Both the 9-10 year old girls and the 13-14 year old girls relay teams swept their relay events winning first place in both the 100 yard freestyle relay and the 100 yard Medley relay. The 9-10 Girls team was composed of Kelly Henderson, Sara Claire Fennell, Catherine Fennell and Maggie Davis. Mary Katherine Moreton, Amber Stewart, Katie Scharff and Amberlyn Clark made up the 13-14 Girls relay team.

Outstanding performances were also given by Lydia Scharff, who placed first in 3 individual events in the 7-8 girls, and Dana Henderson who won fourth overall in the 7-8 year old girls.

The official season for the Riptide/ATAC swim team starts on May 20, 2008. The team plans to attend at least 8 more swim meets during the summer months. The club is sponsored by the Thomasville YMCA and coaching and organization is provided by the Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club (ATAC). There is still time to get involved in this exciting, healthy and mostly very fun sport. The next meet that Riptide/ATAC will attend is this weekend, Saturday May 17th, in Lake City, FL. Top 5 individual high point winners included John Yambor-Maul, 8 and under boys (3rd); Ali Lombardi, 10 and under girls (4th); Brandon Chason, 10 and under boys (3rd); Lia Lombardi, 11 and 12 girls (2nd); Joey Briggs and Mac Crutchfield, 11 and 12 boys (2nd and 5th, respectively); Alexandria Merritt and Madison Osterland, 13 and 14 girls (2nd and 3rd, respectively); Scott Fortier, 13 and 14 boys (2nd); Carlyn Cavalieri, 15 and over girls (2nd), and Kyle Young, Malcolm Hosford, and Hunter Hinson, 15 and over boys (2nd, 3rd, and 4th, respectively).

New ATAC team records were set by Cece Williams in the 11 – 12 girls meter 200 freestyle (2:18.02), 400 meter freestyle (4:48.12), and 200 meter individual medley (2:37.69); Lia Lombardi in the 11 – 12 girls 50 meter breaststroke (37.64) and 100 meter breaststroke (1:21.14): and Hunter Hinson in the 15 – 16 boys 50 meter freestyle (25.03) and 100 meter butterfly (57.84).

ATAC swimmers achieved a total of 112 Junior Olympic and 95 Senior Championship meet cuts.

Although originally left out of the meet results (along with relative newcomer Madison Osterland), brand newcomer Kristin Sweeney had a terrific first meet for ATAC with best times in 6 of her 7 individual events, including one (400 meter freestyle) by more than 24 seconds! Florida Swimming vs. Florida Gold Coast All-Star Meet

March 29–30, 2008

FULL MEET RESULTS | ATAC RESULTS

Four swimmers – Joey Briggs (12), Scott Fortier (13), Lia Lombardi (12), and Cece Williams (12) – represented ATAC and Florida Swimming in the 2008 Florida Swimming vs. Florida Gold Coast All-Star Meet, March 29 – 30, 2008, at Indian River Community College in Ft. Pierce, FL. This dual meet pits the best age group swimmers from North Florida against the best from South Florida. Florida Swimming won the meet, 647.5 to 623.5.

Top 3 ATAC finishers in an individual event included Lia Lombardi (1st, girls 11 – 12 100 yard breaststroke; 3rd, girls 11 -12 50 yard breaststroke) and Cece Williams (2nd, girls 11 – 12 100 yard freestyle; 3rd, girls 11 – 12 100 yard individual medley). Joey Briggs recorded best times in 4 of 6 individual events and Scott Fortier recovered nicely from a week of illness for a 5th-place finish in the 200 yard butterfly.

Southern Zone Sectionals

March 13-16, 2008

ATAC sent 6 swimmers to the Southern Zone Sectional Championships March 13 – 16 in Orlando, Florida. This was the season’s first long course championship meet and drew swimmers from all over the Southern United States, including Dara Torres and Ryan Lochte!

Top 8 finishers for ATAC included Coach Malcolm Hosford in the 100 meter breaststroke (3rd), Alex Kennon in the 100 meter butterfly (4th), 50 meter freestyle (3rd), and 100 meter freestyle (3rd), and Joe Ziegler in the 100 meter freestyle (4th), 200 meter freestyle (4th), and 400 meter freestyle (7th).

Joe Ziegler’s 100 meter freestyle time (52.28) was a new ATAC team record for 17 – 18 boys.

Hunter Hinson achieved Junior National qualifying times in the 100 meter butterfly (58.00) and 200 meter butterfly (2:06.82). Both times were new ATAC team records for 15 – 16 boys.

Alex Kennon achieved U.S. Olympic qualifying times in the 50 meter freestyle (23.49) and 100 meter freestyle (51.54).

Area 1-4 Championship

March 15-16, 2008

ATAC sent 24 swimmers to the Area 1 and 4 Championships March 15 – 16 in Jacksonville, Florida.

First place finishers included Makayla Ayers in the girls 11 – 12 200 freestyle, Alex Dehner in the boys 13 – 14 100 and 200 back, newcomer Madison Osterland in the 13 – 14 girls 100 breaststroke, Sergey Rogachev in the 13 – 14 boys 200 individual medley, Sydney Simpson in the 11 – 12 girls 100 butterfly, Anthony Stephens in the 11 – 12 boys 50 breaststroke, and John Yambor-Maul in the boys 8 and under 25 butterfly and 50 freestyle.

Sergey Rogachev and John Yambor-Maul each brought home High Point honors for the boys 13 – 14 and 8 and under age groups, respectively.

As a team, ATAC recorded a total of 26 “A” Motivational Time Standards.

Newcomer Madison Osterland recorded best times in all 7 of her individual events – welcome to ATAC, Madison!

ATAC Takes 4th Place at
Florida Swimming Senior Championship

February 28 - March 2, 2008

Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club (ATAC) sent 22 swimmers to the Florida Swimming Spring Senior Championships February 28 – March 2 in Clearwater, Florida. ATAC finished in 4th place overall (45 teams total), with the girls placing 7th and the boys placing 3rd.

Joe Ziegler took high point honors for the Senior Men. A new Senior Championship record was set by Joe Ziegler in the Men’s 100 yard freestyle (44.70), breaking Coach Malcolm Hosford’s old record, set in 1999.

Senior Champs medal winners (top 3 finishers) included Hunter Hinson (gold medal in the 15 – 16 boys 400 yard individual medley, silver medal in the 100 yard butterfly, and bronze medal in the 200 yard butterfly); Coach Malcolm Hosford (gold medal in the Men’s 200 yard breaststroke, gold medal in the 100 yard breaststroke, and bronze medal in the 50 yard freestyle); Kelley Wyman (silver medals in the Men’s 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle, and 200 yard individual medley); and Joe Ziegler (gold medals in all 6 individual events – Men’s 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle, 200 yard freestyle, 500 yard freestyle, 100 yard backstroke, and 200 yard backstroke).

ATAC scored a 1-2-3 finish in the Men’s 50 yard freestyle with Joe Ziegler (gold), Kelley Wyman (silver), and Coach Malcolm Hosford (bronze)!

Relay medal winners included gold in the Men’s 400 yard freestyle relay (Kelley Wyman, Coach Malcolm Hosford, Spencer Rausch, and Joe Ziegler); gold in the Men’s 400 medley relay (Joe Ziegler, Coach Malcolm Hosford, Hunter Hinson, and Kelley Wyman); and silver in the Men’s 800 yard freestyle relay (Coach Malcolm Hosford, Kelley Wyman, Spencer Rausch, and Joe Ziegler). New Senior Champs records were set by more than 3 seconds each in the Men’s 400 medley relay (3:24.57) and the Men’s 400 freestyle relay (3:06.74). The ATAC Women’s 400 yard freestyle relay (Carlyn Cavalieri, Anna Straubinger, Allison Schlak, and Alexandria Merritt) swam under 3:40.0 (3:39.47) for the first time in more than 10 years!

New ATAC team records were set by Alexandria Merritt in the 100 yard backstroke (new girls 13-14 record of 1:00.09); Hunter Hinson in the 15 – 16 100 yard butterfly (51.32); and Joe Ziegler in the 200 yard backstroke (new boys 17 – 18 record of 1:47.81).

ATAC Takes 9th Place at
Florida Swimming Junior Olympics

ATAC sent 21 swimmers to the Florida Swimming Junior Olympic Championships February 21 – 24 in Clearwater. ATAC finished in 9th place overall, with the girls placing 8th and the boys placing 9th. The ATAC 11 – 12 girls were the highest placing age group of all the ATAC age groups – 5th place.

JO medal winners (top 3 finishers) included Cece Williams (2nd in the 50 freestyle, 2nd in the 100 freestyle,) Lia Lombardi (2nd in the 50 breaststroke, 1st in the 100 breaststroke, 3rd in the 100 individual medley), Alexandria Merritt (2nd in the 100 butterfly), James Bowen (1st in the 100 breaststroke, 1st in the 200 breaststroke, 2nd in the 100 butterfly), and the 11 – 12 girls 200 medley relay (Cece Williams, Lia Lombardi, Lydia Garthwait, and Delaney Parry).

New ATAC team records were set by Cece Williams in the 11 – 12 girls 100 freestyle (55:96), Lia Lombardi in the 11 – 12 girls 100 breaststroke (1:09. 32) and the 100 individual medley (1:04.34), Alexandria Merritt in the 100 butterfly (57.51) and in the leadoff leg of the 400 freestyle relay (53.76), and James Bowen in the 200 breaststroke (2:13.65). Cece Williams also bettered the previous team record in the 100 individual medley (1:04.39).

Qualifying for the Florida Swimming All-Star Team (top 8 place finish in an individual event) were Cece Williams, Lia Lombardi, Alexandria Merritt, Megan Walker, Joey Briggs, James Bowen, and Jackson Brannon.

ATAC 'Last Chance' Developmental

Several ATAC swimmers achieved new Junior Olympic and Senior Championship qualifying times on February 16 at the Last Chance Developmental meet at Trousdell.

Achieving new JO qualifying times were Joey Briggs, 11 - 12 boys 50 breaststroke; Hannah Capers, 13 – 14 girls 200 backstroke; Lydia Gathwait, 11 – 12 girls 100 individual medley; Brett Martin, 11 -12 boys 100 individual medley; Delaney Parry, 11 -12 girls 50 freestyle; Sergey Rogachev, 13 – 14 boys 1000 freestyle; Sydney Simpson, 100 individual medley and 50 butterfly; and Alyssa Yambor-Maul, 200 backstroke and 50 freestyle.

Achieving new Senior Champs qualifying times were Coach Shanel Commander, 200 individual medley and 200 breaststroke; Malcolm Hosford, 100 butterfly, Jorgi Munson, 200 individual medley; and Alex Wampler, 100 breaststroke.

In addition, Cece Williams set a new ATAC team record in the girls 11 – 12 200 backstroke (2:21.19).

ATAC swimmers combined to take the overall team title in the ATAC Winter Invitational at the Bobby E. Leach Center February 1 -3. ATAC outscored the second-place Maclay Northside Dolphins 8,611.5 to 3,167.

Individual high point winners included Christopher Holmes (10 and Under Boys), Joey Briggs (11 and 12 Boys), Cece Williams (11 and 12 Girls), James Bowen (13 and 14 Boys), Joe Ziegler (Senior Boys), and Carlyn Cavalieri (Senior Girls).

High point runners up included John Yambor-Maul (8 and Under boys), Stephanie Holmes (8 and Under Girls), Brandon Chason (10 and Under Boys), Emmaline Brannon (10 and Under Girls), Lia Lombardi (11 and 12 Girls), Jackson Brannon (13 and 14 boys), Alexandria Merritt (13 and 14 Girls), Hunter Hinson (Senior Boys), and Allison Cottle (Senior Girls).

New ATAC team records were set by Alex Merritt in the 13 and 14 girls 200 freestyle (1:57.76) and 200 backstroke (2:12.65) and by Lia Lombardi in the 11 and 12 girls 100 breaststroke (1:10.18).

ATAC swimmers achieved a total of 127 JO qualifying and 160 Senior Championship qualifying times. Great swimming, ATAC!

ATAC placed 3rd as a team overall (combined boys and girls; 17 teams total; 757 swimmers) and the ATAC girls placed first overall.

Individual high point winners were John Yambor-Maul for 8 and Under boys and Cece Williams for 11 – 12 girls.

Gator Holiday Classic

November 30 - December 2, 2007

The Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club sent 30 swimmers to the Gator Swim Holiday Classic in Gainesville, FL, November 30 – December 2, 2007. ATAC placed 9th overall out of 42 teams. More than 1,100 swimmers attended the meet. ATAC swimmers scoring first place in an individual event included Hunter Hinson in the 15-16 boys 100 yard butterfly and Joe Ziegler in the senior boys 100 yard backstroke and 500 yard freestyle. A new ATAC team record was set by Anna Straubinger in the 17-18 girls 50 freestyle (24.74).

ATAC swimmers achieved a total of 101 Junior Olympic qualifying times. ATAC rocks!

ATAC sent 74 swimmers to the Panama City Paradise Invitational meet November 9 – 11. ATAC placed second overall as a team to the Greater Pensacola Aquatic Club (GPAC). Individual high point winners included Cece Williams for 11 – 12 girls, Alex Merritt for 13 – 14 girls, Carlyn Cavalieri for Senior girls, and James Bowen for 13 – 14 boys. Individual high point finishers for 10 and under girls were Emmaline Brannon, 5th and Ali Lombardi, 8th.
